Our School Curriculum

middle students are studying

Middle school

Middle school is an important learning period for our young adolescents, as they discover individual passions and strengths that will influence university and life choices while managing early adulthood’s emotional and social developments. At ISHCMC – American Academy’s international middle school in Ho Chi Minh City, we provide a balanced American educational program so each child can grow to their full potential.

High school

Our high school program, with AP courses, empowers and offers students the opportunity to achieve their university ambitions. Our curriculum is designed to prepare students for success at top universities in the USA, Australia, the UK, Europe, top Asian universities, and many more.

Learning Space Organizational Skills

Advanced Placement (AP) - Key success to top universities globally

The College Board has authorized ISHCMC—American Academy to offer Advanced Placement (AP) courses since 2012. ISHCMC-AA is the first school in Vietnam to offer the new AP Diploma (a new offering from the College Board for students who pass 6 subjects). Taking AP courses and exams in high school can give you an advantage in your pathway.

Gifted and Talented Education (GATE)

GATE course offers additional challenges for highly motivated students. In small cohorts, GATE students are guided to identify their strengths and gifts and create a project to serve their community. Using the framework of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, students collaborate with support from experts in a range of fields.

Where our Alumni Go

100% of our students are accepted into their top 3 universities of choice, and they receive an average of $300,000 USD in scholarships. As a collective, the Class of 2024 was awarded $14,000,000 USD in university scholarships.

Trusted by Thousands of Happy Parents

I’m glad that I was fortunate to be able to study at ISHCMC – American Academy. Those years  enabled me to discover my passion in terms of both education and life. Through the AP (Advanced Placement) courses, I was able to earn university credits prior to entering university. My AP Calculus BC class and perfect exam score also helped me to skip the first-year Math 2A & 2B class required at UC Irvine. In addition, AP Physics and Computer Science helped me to define a fundamental interest in the fields of science and technology, in which I chose to pursue as an MIS major in university.

Felix Huynh, Class of 2023 alumni

I was nervous when transferring from a Vietnamese school to ISHCMC-AA since it was my first time at an international school. However, I was able to make some great friends and the one-on-one orientation really helped prepare me and my parents for life at ISHCMC-AA. I’m glad we were able to join the school when we did.

Ashley Moc Nhien, grade 12

Khang has improved his English and overall grades since starting at ISHCMC-AA, I’m really proud of him! I’m glad to have the opportunity to meet with his teachers on a regular basis.

Mr. Duy – Khang’s Parent – Year 8

Annie just started at ISHCMC-AA this year and this was our first Parent-Teacher Conference together. She is much more confident today than the first day of school with her reading, writing and conversational skills.
